What is Children Writing?
Children Writing from One Heart to the Other is the name Tabea Hirzel coined for the extension of the original Australian idea to her own place of living, the waste semi-desertic rural towns of Central Spain.
It's origin is based on a similar programme developed in Australia in the Yakanarra Community, South Kimberley.

Why From One Heart to Another?
The original goal of this project was to improve English literacy in non-English speaking kids and, by this, to enhance their inclusion in future job opportunities and social live.
Through the experience of the Yakanarra Community, we have learnt, that writing is much more than literacy. It opens not only work opportunities, but it is also a form for connecting with others at remote places, to exchange a different view on our world and to travel "literally" through literature and art.
It also helps us to find our place in this world and to take care for our own heritage, our stories and our language.
Who can envolve?
All children at primary school level, aged 7 to 15 can participate. You must be organized as a group or class. Single kids cannot get envolved. Please, ask your English teacher, the director of the foreign language department of your Library or a community leader to enroll.
How does it work?
The programme follows a simple 8 step process:
- If you are a teacher or a library director enroll here.
- Introduce the project to your children as an opportunity to connect with other children.
- Collect stories, songs, rhymes.
- Illustrate your stories.
- Name the project with a common topic (if you have not done this at the beginning).
- Edit your book.
- Connect with other children, and
- Distribute your book.
